Time flies! This year marks 10 years

of the Sydney Czech & Slovak Film Festival.

We are excited to announce that the epic biopic ‘IL BOEMO’ will be showcased on our opening night

at DENDY Newtown.

The historical biographical drama directed by Petr Václav represents the Czech Republic at the Oscars in the Best International Film Category.

‘Il Boemo’ tells the life story of Josef Mysliveček, a Czech immigrant to Italy who became one of the most prolific opera composers of the 18th century - befriending and mentoring Mozart. The film explores his rise to fame - and then his fall.

This year, the festival will be running from the 24 March to 2 April,

over six days instead of the usual five.

Festival-goers should also look forward to enjoying Becherovka cocktails and the famous Czech “chlebíčky”.
