The time has come to unveil a magnificent array of short films available for your viewing pleasure at the illustrious 13th edition of the Sydney Czech and Slovak Film Festival! BETTER MAN / LEPŠÍ ČLOVĚK
2025 - CZ - Animated
DIRECTOR: ELIŠKA JIRÁSKOVÁ
This short film delves into the bodybuilding subculture, highlighting how three men utilize fitness to manage inner trauma and boost self-esteem. Proudly selected for the Official Selection in the Graduation Films category at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025.

HOW TO LISTEN TO FOUNTAINS / AKO POČÚVAŤ FONTÁNY
2025 - SK - Documentary
DIRECTOR: EVA SAJANOVÁ
The film explores the significance of public spaces, delving into cultural nuances and the intriguing concept of fountains personified, which compellingly highlight their presence and seek acknowledgment and restoration. The film won the prestigious Nest Award at the 73rd San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2025.

STONE OF DESTINY / KÁMEN OSUDU
2025 - CZ - Animated
DIRECTOR: JULIA ČERNÁ
In this animated musical, the Stone of Destiny embarks on a journey to overcome self-doubt and find freedom. Along the way, it meets strange creatures in peculiar places. The film premiered in the Berlinale Shorts section at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, competing for the Golden Bear for Best Short Film.

2025 - SK - Fiction
DIRECTOR: EMÍLIA ONDRIAŠOVÁ is an acclaimed short film (shot on 35mm) nominated for Best Student Film at KAMERA 25.
“Do you know where you wanna go to high school yet?” Ivan, the teacher, asks his student Tereza while massaging her foot in the dim light of the hotel room. Grooming is a game of subtle, gradual moves—and Ivan is a seasoned player. But for Tereza, it feels like love. And who runs away from that? Right, Dad?
MTPIFF (Montpellier Independent Film Festival): Recognized with an Honorable Mention – Best Short Film.
