SPECIAL WEEKEND SCREENINGS: 27 & 28 OCT 2017

Updated: Feb 22, 2018

Sydney Czech & Slovak Film Festival presents

a Q&A with Jiří STRACH

A unique opportunity to meet in person with the director of the hit movie

Angel of the Lord

The Q&A will follow the screening of Jirka’s hit sequel Angel of the Lord 2 and will give you the opportunity to ask the successful director and actor any questions you have about the film.

It’s very rare that a sequel is an even bigger hit than the original as happened here in the case of Jirka’s first feature film debut made in 2005 about the clumsy angel Petronel and his heckler devil companion, Uriah.

Can an angel and a devil be friends? That’s one of the questions for the creator of both characters, Jirka Strach on Saturday afternoon 28th of October.

Jiří Strach began his film career as a child actor. As an adult, he appeared in Smyczek’s television series’ There were Five of Us and Nice District

as well as taking on the lead role in that director’s film fairytale, Ruffiano and Sweeteeth (1997). In 1992, Strach was accepted by Prague’s Film Academy FAMU to study directing. Following graduation he began working for Czech Television and directed Genius of the Homeland (1998), At the Chateau (2000), The Scent of Vanilla (2001), The Murder of the Green Family (2002), The Flood (2004) and The Awakened Rock (2004). Aside from extensive TV work and the fairy-tale Angel of the Lord, his most recent cinematic work as director includes the feature Oldies But Goldies.

Jirka also directs the dubbing of foreign films and commercials.
